Have you ever went to the beach just to see plastic and a dead turtle laying on its shell? Have you ever wondered how many other animals plastic pollution is affecting? Well if you are worried like I am, then let’s make the smart decision and ban plastic. Also, by banning plastic that’s one time use, you will be able to help save those animal’s plastic waste is hurting. I think we should plan to ban plastic because it won't kill any more animals, it will be healthy for the environment and the ocean, and it will reduce the plastic in the ocean.
One reason, why we should ban plastic, especially one-time-use plastic, is because it is killing animals. In fact, those poor animals are dying because of the plastic we throw out every day and some places are filled with tons of garbage. In the Meadowlands, there are about 2 or 3 tons of plastic! Also, when the plastic burns up (the gas that you are probably familiar with), the garbage bags release methane. According to surfrider foundation, “The study examined the seven most common types of plastic - polycarbonate (PC), acrylic (AC), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polystyrene (PS), high-density polyethylene (HDPE) an ad low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Each type of plastic was measured after being submerged in seawater and exposed to the sun for several days. The type of plastic shown to release the most methane and ethylene was LDPE. LDPE, which is used to make grocery bags.†Remember, every time you throw out a piece of plastic think of one thing, you are killing animals. Sometimes the plastic even gets caught on the neck of the animals, and the animal starts choking and it could die. Also, we burn the plastic, which may release harmful chemicals, which can also kill animals.
Another reason, why we should ban plastic is that plastic is non-biodegradable, so that's why it takes 1000 years to break down. Obviously, That is why our fish are dying. A piece of plastic that goes into the stomach of the animals than when they die and decay the plastic repeats this process for 1000 more years. If you throw out the plastic in the ocean it is super harmful so you shouldn't do it, first of all, second of all, the plastic in the ocean will also probably release methane into the ocean, then when it freezes and you try to break the bubbles it would burst out the fire. So if you don't want any of this to happen you should ban the plastic. It is so sad that the greedy people are selling plastic, they probably know there killing animals, but what do they care! They don't even care about those animals.
The last reason is that this so-called plastic is very harmful, even for us. We drink water bottles that sometimes get left in the sun which melts the plastic into the cup then mutates our genes. Also, the chemicals that plastic releases is very harmful. It can also cause global warming which is very bad. It’s so bad the ice will melt in Iceland, north pole, south pole, and many more places. Cities will flood, houses would flood, skyscrapers would flood and collapse. Millions of people will die from global warming. So if you love to use plastic and you have plastic plates. Cups, sporks, spoons, and cups you shouldn't use it unless you want to kill animals. Every time you throw out plastic you affect global warming by 0.100%. So remember, be more aware of how you are using plastic during your everyday life. clearly, now you know what will happen if you purchase and throw out the plastic. According to the research published on Thursday. This plastic binge threatens attempts to meet the Paris climate agreement. It means that by 2050 plastic will be responsible for up to 13% of the total “carbon budget†– equivalent to 615 coal-fired power plants – says the research published on Thursday.†In summary, if you throw out plastic every time just remember, you are killing the animals, which also poisons your food which is fish and other seafood. Every day you get stuff made of plastic, this plastic is something that shouldn't exist. Next time you buy plastic, remember you are killing animals and hurting our environment. Will you make a stand in protecting our environment from single-use plastic?
